CALLING ALL YOUTH: Audition for TEDxYouth@ParkCity2015. 12 to 20 students will be selected to speak/perform.

Park City Institute is holding auditions for TEDxYouth@ParkCity 2015 on Thursday, April 23, 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday, April 25, noon until 2 p.m., in the lecture hall of Park City High School. TED, which stands for “technology, entertainment and design,” is a growing organization of forward thinkers who are dedicated to “ideas worth sharing.”

Junior high school and high school students are invited to come to the audition with a talk or a performance piece, which ties into the TED philosophy and the TEDx focus on youth. For the purposes of the audition, the talk does not yet have to be memorized. In accordance with TEDx parameters, the talks/performances must be five to 12 minutes in length and cannot be religious, political or self-serving.

The students who are selected will share their ideas with 300 of their contemporaries on Monday, May 11 at the TEDxYouth@ParkCity2015 event. Preference will be given to Summit County students. For more information regarding TEDxYouth@ParkCity auditions, please call Park City Institute at 435-655-8252.

Momentum. Moving forward. Gaining speed. Building traction.

At TEDWomen2015, we’ll explore the bold ideas that create momentum in how we think, live and work. From the young scientist revealing a breakthrough discovery to the activist who methodically transformed how the world thinks about women. From the veteran CEO whose trade secrets turn organizations around to the athlete whose extraordinary comeback shocked the world.

What is TEDx?
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxWomen, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxWomen event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
